I’m re-reading Fielding’s Tom Jones, a favorite, after many years. What a fun book! I wish modern authors would emulate his approach to chapter titles. Example: “Chapter III: An odd incident which befell Mr. Allworthy at his return home. The decent behaviour of Mrs. Deborah Wilkins, with some proper animadversions on bastards.”
