capacity.

Amid all the COVID ups and downs, I’m surprised that I’ve only ever read one article about hospital capacity, which, it seems to me, is obviously inadequate to the world we live in now. As things stand, it doesn’t take much for a hospital and its staff to be overwhelmed. Many “non-profit” hospitals are for-profit businesses in disguise, and have been acting as that implies for a long time.

I think: the death toll of this pandemic has been around .25 percent of the population, and that’s been enough to overwhelm some hospitals. I imagine a future pandemic with, say, 5% mortality, and it seems obvious that it would quickly take down the entire health-care system.

A little thought for the future would be nice.
