do not touch!

I had an annual checkup recently. I’ve noticed that the physical exam (where you get stripped, poked and prodded in various ways) seems to be disappearing.
Now, the doctor asks you a bunch of questions, enters things in a laptop, and prescribes some blood work or other screenings.
I think this was happening even before COVID introduced a “do not touch” ethic.
I can’t say that I miss the poking and prodding, but it seems like a significant change in medical practice. Have they just found that the information they get from screenings makes the physical exam redundant?
