Happy Birthday, "Kind of Blue"

It’s the anniversary of the issue of Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue in 1959. It’s so great. No doubt you’ve listened to it, but listen to it again. Davis’ Pairing of the tormented playing of John Coltrane’s tenor with Cannonball Adderley’s joyful alto was just one of his brilliant choices.
It’s been countless people’s intro to jazz. Sometimes it gets scorned as the jazz album for non-jazz people, but who cares? It’s beautiful.
