The obsolescence of repentance.

Alan Jacobs remembers John Profumo, a British politician whose career was destroyed by a sexual scandal in 1961. In response, he dropped out of public life and devoted the rest of his life to working for the poor without publicity at London’s Toynbee Hall. Celebrity scandals are with us as much as ever. Who would show this kind of concrete repentance today?
