Rags of Light

At the Divine Liturgy on Pascha, it’s become customary to read the Gospel in a variety of languages, as many as are spoken in the parish or, if you’re feeling expansive, as many languages as possible. Our son has told us that, in addition to European languages including Greek, Romanian and Church Slavonic, his parishioners will be reading the Gospel in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Burmese. I can see this turning into a competitive sport.
