Two Book recommendations, now that you have the time.

Since so many of us are in a place of opportunity to read more, here are a couple of not so well known books that I think would be worth your time.

  • The Wall by Marlen Haushofer. A neglected modern classic in my opinion. A woman mysteriously finds herself alone in the countryside, bounded by an invisible wall, not sure if anyone else is left on earth. Probes deeply into what civilization is and what makes us human.
  • Kristin Lavransdatter by Sigrid Undset (3 Volumes). Set in 14th-century Norway. Vivid characters, fascinating picture of a medieval society, absorbing. Trigger warning: there is a plague in the final volume! Be sure to get the Tiina Nunnally translation.
